Training
Swimming
For our swimming training there are
a number of options, the most
popular being the Club swimming
night Monday at 8pm at Tring
Swimming Pool. This involves an
hours worth of training. This
session has limited numbers so
please contact the club to ask about
places and coming to try it out.
If there are places and want to swim
on Monday then you need to sign up
for this and pay the fee. The
swimming is done under the auspices
of Dacorum trust sportspace so you
need to get the Sportspace card
which is about £30 (you do get
corporate discount as part of being
a member of ShiresTriers) and then
you need to pay for the swimming by
filling in the Swim form
2011/2012 and returning this
with a cheque to Jim Sinton. The
details of who to make the cheque
out to are on the form. You also
need to be a member of Shires Triers
to swim with us on a Monday night.
We also meet on a Friday night at
7pm in the pool at Berkhamsted
Leasure Centre. This is an informal
session and usually involves a fair
bit of chatting. It doesn't tend to
happen much in the summer as we are
generally swimming Saturday
mornings.
During the summer months we all get
dressed up in rubber and head to the
Blue Lagoon near Hitchen on a
Saturday morning (7am) for a lap or
three of the lake. THis is usually
followed by Jim getting us to swim
to the first buoy sans wet suit, it
certainly wakes you up, especially
in the early weeks when the waters
far from luke warm!
To come swimming at the Lagoon all
you need is a membership card (so we
know who's in the water) and you wet
suit and goggles. There are several
clubs in attendance and to
differentiate between all the men
and women in black each club wears a
different coloured swim hat. The
Shires Triers hat colour is white,
very exciting. Usually there are
several car loads of people leaving
from various Berko and Tring
locations so you should be able to
grab a lift.
