Is it Social, is it Training ?????
MTB Weekend Afan Argoed, the nice cottages are available between 4th and 18th October. Please let me know asap what suits - 3 + 4th, 10 + 11th or 17+18th. As duff's nuptials are on 10th, my guess is the 17/18th is favourite. Please let me know asap if you're up for it.
Perhaps one of the previous satisfied customers can post a write-up for the uninitiated.
Am back Thursday

I'm Ok for all three dates.
For those that want a bit more detail.
Accomodation is definitely luxourious.
A link to the trails is here-
http://www.mbwales.com/en/content/cms/Centres/Afan_Forest_Park/Afan_Forest_Park.aspx
It is reasonably technical mountain biking that we do with the fear factor between 3-8(for me, less for others). Can be reduced to a a 6 if avoid the black route.
Full suspension is recomended but we have had people doing it without suspension.
Tend to do a big ride on the Saturday and a shorter one on the Sunday.
It has less rocks than Coed brenin, but still challenging riding. Do expect to fall off but probably only going at 4 mph when you do.
There is a family trail also and there are other things you can do. _________________ Sine labore nihil |

I also can make any of these weekend dates and look forward to it.
To those that have not been these are great weekends with great riding and everyone comes back to the cottages with happy smiling faces (even me).
For those without a MTB you have months to sort that problem so no excuses.
Oh by the way normally we have a meal out and a few beers on Saturday night with lots of reflection on the days incidents. Great fun! _________________ I'm lovinit!!! |

Is it worth making a decision as to exactly what date so that we can all plan our diaries??

Colin,
Now I'm back, quite right.
October 17/18 is the date. Now I need to know numbers as we can book one, two or three cottages, a theoretical maximum of 18, but 16 is nearer the mark.
Count so far, MB, Mitten, Colin, A-M, Jim (Tracey?), Jo, Rob, Paul
Plus usual suspects Tony, Gerry, Gareth, Andy H ?
Get your bookings in fast....

Can I just confirm, Maurice, that is the Friday and Saturday? What are the usual departure and return times?
Cheers.

Most will drive down Friday am or pm, foods a bit of a scramble as we don't know who's arriving when.
Saturday - ride morning, lunch at Afan, ride afternoon, Curry evening
Sunday - ride morning, go home direct from Afan.
Sometimes a few will come down on Thursday (Lyn usually let's people stay Thursday night without extra charge). We have also been running but since Jim got us lost up a hillside enthusiasm has waned a bit....)
Afan has 4 dedicated MTB trails, 3 of about 2 hours (and the most fun), 1 of about 5 hours (yes it's big, but bits are boring) plus a family friendly Cycleway which links the four trails.
It's about 3.5 hours to the cottages (near Pontardawe) on a good day and abot 30 mins back towards London to Afan.
