Think we need a bit more controversy.

Obviously if you want to take risk you go with tubs but if you are more interested in finishing then clinchers.

Is IM being a brand reason for not having one or as most are subtle, is it a mark of commitment for the year of training and getting round the distance.

Is there any relationship between the two options Laughing

1. If you are only doing one IM a year, then tubs are too big a risk. Besides anything hand sewn in silk is definitely happy chapie.

2. It is a brand, so by rights it should branded rather like they do to steers in a rodeo. Preferably, right after finishing. And on the hindquarters.

There is very little logical relationship between any two factors in IM anyway, otherwise Joe Friel would have thought of it.

Cheers, it's beer o'clock

As one who has only ever had one road bike puncture, I wouldn't risk changing anything. And I wouldn't know a tub if I saw one!

I would've got the tattoo if I didn't already have the tattoo I've got on my back (strangely I'm not generally a fan of tattoos on women).

I've found a comphremise on it in the 'space invader' hanging round my neck:D

So I'm guessing I'd be selecting the missing 4th option?

I'm not a big fan of tattoos in general and would probably never get one! But having said that I do understand why some people like to have the IM tattoo as a reminder of the race.

Oh and Clinchers every time.

Tubs are easy to change as long as you have prepped your spare i.e. ready stretched and ready taped. It is then quicker than changing a lever snaping clincher tyre.

I think anyone who has an IM tatt is a complete w**ker.

As for the branding issue. We do IM races because they are branded IM otherwise we would do cheaper IM distances races that are not IM branded!

Tubs were invented to grow plants in...However never having owned any I wouldnt know...Jo's comments seemed sensible [and would make me consider tubs one day]..

IM tatoo is a personal choice once again I agree with Jo's opinion Shocked

As far as races are concearned, because they are IM branded they are generally/sometimes better organised [except IMUK]...Races such as Roth have a massive following and are supposed to be just as good. Another good example would be Vit v HIMUK........

p.s I went to Tesco yesterday and am thinking of getting a tesco logo tatoo on my forehead as a mark of endurance in queueing up for hours... Very Happy

Paul,

The place where I got my tatt done had actually put a barcode on the back of the neck of a guy who worked in Sainsbury. Allegedly it did work on the scanner.......

Now I know why you enjoy watching ITU races on the telly. Your standards are far lower than I had given you credit Rolling Eyes
